An Internet Service Provider (ISP) Acceptable Use Policy template setting out standard terms that are often found in ISP AUPs.

How this document can help you

Internet service providers (ISPs) should ensure that customers are bound by contractual obligations to use services only for lawful purposes. Our template includes standard ISP acceptable usage provisions which require users to use the ISP's internet services without breaching any law or the legal rights of any person.

What it includes

Among other things, our Acceptable Use Template includes:

  • A list of circumstances which constitute breach of the Acceptable Use Policy;
  • Provisions requiring the user to notify the ISP if the user becomes aware of any breach of the AUP;
  • A clause requiring the user to agree that it will use the internet services without breaching any download or upload limits;
  • A provision confirming that the user will not use any residential ISP services for commercial or business purposes, and will not resupply or redistribute the services to any third party;
  • A clause requiring the user to comply not only with the AUP, but also the AUP of the ISP's upstream supplier.
