About Us

Hi, my name is Alan Arnott. I am the principal and founder of hi-tech law firm Arnotts Technology Lawyers. We have prepared the templates and questionnaires that are provided through the DocuStream platform.

Serious players in the IT industry understand that there is no time to waste on lawyers who just don’t get it.

At Arnotts Technology Lawyers we have developed significant experience advising the IT industry over many years and has gained a unique understanding of the requirements of our hi-tech clients. We have expertise in drafting and negotiating hi-tech legal agreements and resolving complex IT disputes. Our clients include startups, small to medium enterprises, multi-national corporations and government. We are very experienced in cloud computing law, software law, smartphone application law, website terms of use, privacy law, the law of confidential information, corporate law (including directors duties) and telecommunications law.

Our clients include multinational software companies, one of Australia’s largest media organisations, an electricity generator, Australian government departments, a company with a satellite orbiting the Earth, an industry association for internet service providers (ISPs) and a wide range of hi-tech software businesses, IT support, data hosting and managed services providers, web developers, telecommunications carriers and Australian tech start-ups. Our clients regularly tell us how happy they are to have found us.

We often receive referrals from other lawyers who simply do not understand a client’s business or the technology space. We have experience negotiating tech deals on behalf of our clients with state and federal Government departments, banks, television broadcasters, stock exchanges, insurance companies, superannuation funds, multi-national pharmaceutical companies and other significant organisations.

Unlike other firms, we have a very detailed knowledge of the space that our clients operate in.

We have an intricate understanding of the commercial, legal and technical issues that matter most to our clients. Other rms who don’t understand the tech and telco space often refer their clients to us.

We have generated a lot of experience working on common and bespoke hi-tech legal agreements including software licence, support and maintenance agreements, tech services agreements, joint venture agreements, shareholder agreements, SAAS contracts, database licences, smartphone end user agreements, privacy policies, website terms of use, hosting agreements, virtualisation agreements, ISP contracts and telco agreements (among others).

Unlike many other firms, we not only draft and negotiate our clients’ agreements; we also enforce them (including, in court proceedings if required).

We have experience resolving large, highly complex and aggressive commercial technology-focused disputes worth millions of dollars in court and via alternative dispute resolution processes (negotiation, mediation and arbitration).

Please let us know if we can assist you with your legal requirements or if you have questions about the DocuStream platform.

Best regards,
Alan
